Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Indian independence movement, was assassinated on January 30, 1948. His death anniversary is commemorated every year on this day in India as Martyr’s Day or Shaheed Diwas.
Gandhi was shot three times by Nathuram Godse, a Hindu nationalist, while he was walking to a prayer meeting in New Delhi. भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के नेता महात्मा गांधी की 30 जनवरी, 1948 को हत्या कर दी गई थी। भारत में हर साल उनकी पुण्यतिथि को शहीद दिवस या शहीद दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है।
गांधी को एक हिंदू राष्ट्रवादी नाथूराम गोडसे ने तीन बार गोली मारी थी, जब वह नई दिल्ली में एक प्रार्थना सभा के लिए जा रहे थे। उनकी मृत्यु देश और दुनिया के लिए एक झटका थी और व्यापक शोक फैल गया। गांधी के अहिंसा और सविनय अवज्ञा के दर्शन का भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन और दुनिया पर गहरा प्रभाव पड़ा।

धैर्य का छोटा हिस्सा भी एक टन उपदेश से बेहतर है.
गौरव लक्ष्य पाने के लिए कोशिश करने में हैं, न कि लक्ष्य तक पहुंचने में.
मेरा धर्म सत्य और अहिंसा पर आधारित है, सत्य मेरा भगवान है और अहिंसा उसे पाने का साधन.
कमजोर कभी माफी नहीं मांगते, क्षमा करना तो ताकतवर व्यक्ति की विशेषता है.
कुछ लोग सफलता के सपने देखते हैं, वही कुछ लोग जागते हैं और कड़ी मेहनत करते हैं.
विश्वास करना एक गुण है, अविश्वास दुर्बलता कि जननी है।

विश्वास को हमेशा तर्क से तौलना चाहिए. जब विश्वास अँधा हो जाता है तो मर जाता है।
पहले वो आप पर ध्यान नहीं देंगे, फिर वो आप पर हँसेंगे, फिर वो आप से लड़ेंगे, और तब आप जीत जायेंगे।
ख़ुशी तब मिलेगी जब आप जो सोचते हैं, जो कहते हैं और जो करते हैं, सामंजस्य में हों।
जो समय बचाते हैं, वे धन बचाते हैं और बचाया हुआ धन, कमाएं हुए धन के बराबर है।
क्रोध और असहिष्णुता सही समझ के दुश्मन हैं।
हंसी मन की गांठें बड़ी आसानी से खोल देती है।
अपने प्रयोजन में द्रढ विश्वास रखने वाला एक सूक्ष्म शरीर इतिहास के रुख को बदल सकता है।

Non-violence requires a double faith, faith in God and also faith in man.
